Based in Pisa, Tuscany

Memiri is located in Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany. Surrounded by a rich history of art, science, and beautiful landscapes, we find it the perfect environment to craft modern software. Explore the map below to discover where we work and a few stories that make this city special.

Pisa at a glance

Pisa is much more than its famous leaning tower. The city grew along the Arno as a powerful maritime republic and still carries layers of university life, science, religious art, and long-standing civic traditions across its historic center.

The Leaning Tower

The most famous leaning bell tower in the world. It began sinking during construction in the 12th century because of the soft, marshy ground beneath it.

Not Just One!

Due to the soft soil, there are actually three leaning towers in Pisa! Beyond the main one, we have the bell towers of San Nicola and San Michele degli Scalzi.

A Walk to the Gate

Pisa's Galileo Galilei airport is uniquely close to the city center. You can literally walk from the central station to your departure gate in about 20 minutes!

Tuttomondo — Keith Haring's Last Mural

In 1989, Keith Haring painted one of his last public works on the outer wall of the convent attached to the Church of Sant'Antonio. It is one of the very few permanent outdoor murals by Haring anywhere in the world.

Scuola Normale Superiore

Founded by decree of Napoleon in 1810, the Scuola Normale Superiore is one of the most selective universities in the world. It sits in Piazza dei Cavalieri, redesigned by Vasari in the 16th century.

Galileo Was Born Here

Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa in 1564. Legend has it he dropped objects from the Leaning Tower to test his theories on gravity. His birthplace is near Borgo Stretto, in the historic center.

Extraordinary Acoustics

The Baptistery of San Giovanni in Piazza dei Miracoli is the largest baptistery in Italy. It is famous for its remarkable natural acoustics: a single voice inside creates choral harmonics that fill the entire space.

A Battle on the Bridge

Every year, the Gioco del Ponte brings Pisa's historic rivalry back to life. Teams from the Tramontana and Mezzogiorno districts parade in historical costume and then push a heavy cart across Ponte di Mezzo in a symbolic contest between the two sides of the Arno.

Luminara di San Ranieri

Every year on the evening of June 16th, over 70,000 candles are placed along the banks of the Arno for the Luminara di San Ranieri. The buildings along the Lungarno are outlined in light, creating one of the most atmospheric events in Tuscany.
